Joliet Magazine received a $5,000 Matching Grant from Centerpoint GSU. It helped in continuing the efforts to create a positive forum for community members to share their ideas. This forum is also supported by several advertisers and sponsors. CenterPoint played a key role in guiding the growth of Ayingo Productions magazines.

There are many businesses in need of this same assistance. Below you will find a list that I have compiled to make it easier to find the grants. If you happen to stumble across grants that might be helpful for other businesses in the community leave a comment and the web link. Hope this is helpful.

Mayors Day

Why Mayors Day?

People ask why Mayors Day? I started Mayors day to build a foundation, a foundation that we need to embrace and make strong. I remember a time, I decided to hold a conference with the mayors, one mayor said they wouldn’t come. He said its very hard for them to come together. When you sit down and think about the foundation of this country, the belief, the struggle you wonder, is that foundation breaking? This is the only country one can come from the gutter and become something great. People are forgetting about the dream. Now, people are going to other countries to find their dream, they say “I traveled to a different country to find myself.”

Are we just thinking about ourselves? The painful thing is when we finish out our days, that beautiful time, your last day on earth, will you be able to say I was a part of building that foundation. The beauty of U.S. is that regardless of what happens there is always someone who is going to come and make it strong again.

That is why I created Mayors Day - January 13th. Be a part of it. Let it be a day that all Mayors recognize. A day Mayors can uplift each other and say yes today is our day.

Leaders of Joliet

Leaders of Joliet- Leaders making a difference

What does it take for youths to make positive choices? Sometimes it takes just a word of encouragement from someone they revere or an opportunity for them to learn skills and gain experience. This is what the “Leaders of Joliet” accomplished. Many have created job opportunities and internships for youths whilst others act as mentors or tutors. Now, through the Leaders of Joliet Poster they will continue to reach many youths throughout the City of Joliet and the surrounding areas. Their words of encouragement will help them withstand the pressures teens face today to be sexually active and participate in drug and gang activities.
